Strengthening the Civil Societies.
Owing to restricted access into the political situation inside Tibet, many Tibetan Non-Governmental Organizations and other activists are carrying out various activities to put pressure on the Chinese Government to allow international media access and improve the human rights situation for the Tibetans inside Tibet. These activists organise local, state, national as well as international activities and have constant influence on the masses, directly or indirectly. Although these organisations have strongly adhered to non-violent direction action in running their campaigns it becomes all the more important to reinvigorate their dedication to non-violence when they can motivate thousands of people to get involved in their activities. TCCR has in the past conducted conflict resolution workshops for many NGO’s and the importance of organising non-violent workshops for these activists and members are eminent. Aims: To reinvigorate their dedication and belief in non-violent methodologies to carry out their activities. To facilitate teambuilding among members of various organisations so as to contribute to better relations and smoother and more effective functioning. Experience: The Tibetan NGO’s in exile not only work as an activist for the denied rights and problems of Tibetans inside Tibet but also take up a greater role in strengthening the exile democratic Government and people’s welfare services. Therefore, in the past the Centre has conducted many trainings and workshops on teambuilding for the civil societies to enhance their productivity and confidence in non-violent actions. The workshops were not only limited to the NGO’s in Dharamsala but also to their regional chapters in the Tibetan communities. In collaboration with the NGO’s we also undertook many activities for the social welfare and awareness programmes. Overall it was a great experienced and opportunity to work with them and the idea of organizing more of such events are needed and suggested by all. |
"It is important to recognise that if conflicts are created by misuse of human intelligence,
we can also utilise our intelligence to find ways and means to overcome these conflicts."
